Thanks for the questions, Alex. The best place to go to start learning about the "Data Center Pod" concept is on the SoftLayer Data Centers page of our website. We build the 5,000-server pods to use all of the available space efficiently. The dimensions of each data center room (or phase) are established to make sure we don't over- or under-build the environment that will house 5,000 servers.

Hi Guys,

I was curious about a thing. How do you measure the empty space in a pod? By U position ? Or there is no empty space? They come fully equipped.

And also what can you get in a pod and what is it exactly ?

@Patrick – The question is whether he’s still wearing the jersey after that opening loss to Baltimore!

@Bad Learner – There aren’t any immediate plans to shift resources to an in-house CDN, but it’s not out of the question. It would certainly be nice to have it all under the same roof.

Guys, I got a question! I see that you will be launching your services in NL (Nov.) and SG (Oct.), and expanding the number of POPs to 16.

Are you planning to power Cloudlayer CDN with your own POPs replacing those of Internap? Anytime soon? (2012 maybe?)
