Thanks for the comment Satish, she was very happy to see that she got featured on SoftLayer's blog!

James, we appreciate that you want to be heard, but a 10-year-old's blog post about how she loves her dad and what SoftLayer has done for her family probably isn't the best medium to get the attention you're looking for. I don't know what experience with SoftLayer made you so cynical, but your negativity is misdirected here.

Because you didn't have any visibility into the merger or what led to it, it's understandable that the matter-of-fact statement you made about the merger would be so misinformed. The Planet was a profitable hosting provider owned by a private equity firm. That private equity firm purchased a controlling stake in SoftLayer and decided to consolidate operations of the two companies under the SoftLayer brand in November of last year. This "family business" did $78 million in revenue in Q1 of 2011, and the future is bright, and we look forward to Kate getting her education and earning a position at the company.

Kate, when you grow up you really should get an education and perhaps find your own career instead of working with a family business.

It'll say alot more for yourself rather than having a job because of daddy.

Softlayer and ThePlanet did not merge; ThePlanet went broke and Softlayer bought it up.

Best of luck to you

It's so heart touching to hear the words of praise for her dad from a 10 year old. It's so surprising that she understands the nature of her dad's job and the way she is supporting dad. Really great.

Best of luck!!!

Regards,
Satish.
