@Carmen Are you a SoftLayer customer? SoftLayer Global IPs don't expire, and I don't think anyone from our team would call you to tell you that your computer is infected with "global malicious." Sounds like a scam.

Edit: To clarify, "global malicious" isn't a thing, and if you haven't specifically ordered a Global IP for a server, you don't have one (and you probably don't need one). The call you got sounds like a scam where someone is trying to sell you something you don't need by scaring you with the expiration of something that you aren't using and that you don't need.

I have a question. I got a call saying that my global ip has expired. and that my computer is infected with global malicious. I want to know if he is telling me the truth. Can my global ip address expire?
I dont want to be caught up in some scandal. Just want to know what is going on.

Thanks

I wrote this up with an explanation of the implication of the features of global IPs, plus some interesting traceroutes showing how it works from locations around the world: http://blog.serverdensity.com/2012/07/26/global-elastic-ips-multi-region-routing/
